General Characteristics of Raki:

Alcohol Content: 45%

Ingredients: 65% of the alcohol is obtained from fresh grape suma or raisins and the remaining part is obtained from agricultural products.

Distillation: Distilled twice in special stills, adhering to traditional methods.

Flavour Profile: Full-bodied on the palate, with the refreshing and spicy notes of anise perfectly balanced with the softness of grape alcohol. It has a long and clean finish.

Colour: When mixed with water, it turns into an opaque and eye-catching white colour (lion's milk), symbolising the quality of the anise oil.

How is Raki Produced?

The production process of Tek Raki Classic Premium is handled with the precision of an artisan:

Suma Production: Production begins with the selection of Europe's finest aged grapes. These grapes are crushed into must and fermented to produce alcohol. This alcoholic mixture is then distilled to obtain high-grade grape alcohol, known as ‘suma’.

Flavouring with Aniseed: The resulting suma is placed in copper stills together with distinctive, intensely aromatic aniseed. This mixture is diluted with water and prepared for the second distillation.

Second Distillation (Taking the Middle): When the distillation process begins, the alcohol flowing from the still is divided into three parts: the head, the middle (belly) and the tail. The ‘head’ part, which flows first and contains unwanted components, and the “tail” part, which flows last and is of lower quality, are separated. Only the purest, most aromatic and highest quality ‘middle’ part is taken. The unique character of Tek Raki Classic Premium comes from this careful separation process.

Ageing: This valuable raki is aged in stainless steel tanks for at least 30 days to achieve its quality and flavour balance. This process allows the raki to mature and soften.

A Brief History of Raki:

Dating back 500 years to the Ottoman Empire, raki is a distilled spirit born in Anatolia and the surrounding lands. Although initially produced from various fruits, the 19th-century version made from grapes and flavoured with aniseed has become the standard. Particularly recognised as Turkey's national drink during the Republican era, raki is not just a drink, but also lies at the heart of a culture where gatherings of friends, deep conversations, celebrations and sorrows are shared. Known as ‘Lion's Milk’, this valuable drink has been an indispensable part of social life for centuries. Tek Raki Classic Premium honours this rich heritage and carries it forward into the future.
